According to astrology, on this day, the Moon is closer to the Sun, making an ideal moment for the communion between two sustaining forces, one function as the source of life with warmth, beauty, and passion and the other being Shiva himself exuding light, electricity, and energy. Going on a religious note, Maha Shivratri is a statement of the divine descent of Lord Shiva. The worship of Lord Shiva is supposed to yield growth in addition to merits for the devotees.

Lord Shiva is one of the principal deities in Hinduism. He is a vital part of Shiva or the trinity of Brahma, Vishnu, and Maheshwor. However, this is a surface definition of the function performed by Lord Shiva from the production. He is the destroyer of vices energies, and evil. His role blossom with no obstruction and could be contrasted to that of a gardener that uproots the weeds so that amazing flowers can come out.

Similarly, Lord Mahadeva eradicates the negative energies and evil tendencies in his devotees' mind that their lifestyles radiate with serenity and bliss, and blossom. 1 aspect of his function as a destroyer is that he grants Moksha to his devotees, and annihilates the cycle of births and deaths.

Lord Shiva is known by many different names; he's been known with over one-thousand titles in the Puranas (the ancient Hindu scriptures).

Lord Shiva is called the god, or Mahadeva to his character that was highly benevolent and merciful. He doesn't look at the background and attributes of his devotee; whoever calls him with an earnest heart, make it a king or beggar, sinner or saint, human or devil, Lord Siva readily gets pleased with grants and him a varam or boon, thus the name Aashutosh.

The story of Samudra Manthan is well known to a lot of individuals. When the devas and asuras churned the mighty sea, certain items appear from the sea such as Kamadhenu, Airavata, Ratnas, Apsaras, Parijat, and several others. All the objects were dispersed among the gods and devils as per mutual consent; however a battle was that happened to obtain the amrita or the nectar of immortality, which was later solved with the aid of the Lord Vishnu.

But when the halahala or even the toxin emerged from the ocean, everyone started to run hither and thither; find an answer to it, whether they were devas or the Asuras or nobody wanted to share it. In this kind of circumstance, when that poison began to spread, everybody came to Lord Shiva and prayed to him to save them and the whole creation.

At that juncture, their prayers were accepted by the gracious Lord Shiva and drank that toxin as if it was nectar. He had been known by the name of Neel Kantha afterwards, due to his own bluish-colored throat which occurred as a result of impact of this toxin (Siva saved the poison in his throat). That's to say, Lord Shiva can go to any extent.

Rishi Dadhichi is one of the foremost sages in Hindu mythology. Was born in Bhrigu's family, he's credited with the introduction of the Prasna Upanishad. It is, nevertheless, his link to Lord Shiva that makes him all the more interesting.

The effective thread that unites Rishi Dadhichi and Lord Shiva is the Goddess Adi-Shakti within her avatar and as Sati as Parvati. Situated in the Misrikh region of Naimisharanya, near the modern-day city of Lucknow, Rishi Dadhichi's ashram was the abode of refuge for Sati because she grew up through childhood.

Regardless of her prejudiced and vain father, King Daksha, Sati learned from Rishi Dadhichi about the subtle balance of power between the creators and their creations. She learned that Shiva was an undercover area of the Hindu tridev, which the continuation of the process of life ad evolution of time was not possible unless the essentials of creation, preservation, and destruction came to bear upon all the universes.

Shiva's asceticism and its inherent meaning were made clear to Sati by Rishi Dadhichi. Shiva wasn't a deranged beggar. Roaming in tiger skin and smeared ash all over himself- Such intense avoidance of materialist was only symbolic of disillusionment and consequent escape from this material world's snares.

Trappings of wealth, power and authority that is manifest function to blind the very best of humans, and Brahma son Daksha was no exception.

He found the apparent absence of rustic and wealth appearance unacceptable of Shiva. However about his father Brahma's insistence he had reluctantly allowed the marriage of Sati and Shiva.

To appease his awareness of affront, however, Daksha proceeded to plot and subsequently insulted Shiva by not encouraging him on a Yajna and then by openly lampooning Shiva and Sati in his Yajna. The very first individual was Rishi Dadhichi. He was the first one to leave the fantastic assembly called by Daksh for said Yajna.

Following the passing out of Sati, and her reincarnation as Parvati, Rishi Dadhichi made it his personal point to stop by the Parvat Naresh (King of Mountains) Himvan to train his daughter in the ways of Shiva worship. Owing to his great dedication, Shiva had blessed him with a boon that had changed his bones to thunder.

Shiva taught the spirit of the Mahamrityunjay Mantra to any other mortal into Dadhichi, hitherto unknown.

Dadhichi has also talented of understanding about the secrets of the creation of the planet and the world, the boon. These are understanding that Dadhichi had passed to Devi Parvati, with the help of Goddess of Wisdom-Goddess Saraswati. It's through the afterwards avatars of Goddess Parvati that things occurred to extol the virtues of Shakti and Shiva.

The lesson though one may draw from Lord Shiva and Rishi Dadhichi's instance is that the occasion where its zenith is reached by Rishi Dadhichi's power of Bhakti for Lord Shiva.

Even the Demons under the leadership of Vritasura, one of the sons of Danu- the mum of the Danav Race, had made the boon of being immune to all traditional weapons made of steel, iron, and wood.

The Devas faced devastating beats in his hands and the King of Gods Indra needed his limbs broken, such was the energy of Vritasura.

Desperate, the Gods went to Lord Vishnu. They were advised by lord Vishnu , Vritasura could only be slain by weapons forged by the bones of a sage. Unsure about which sage would voluntarily give up his life for Indra, the Gods asked for further guidance. Lord Vishnu called Rishi Dadhichi as the most acceptable candidate.

Indra was not bothered to go to Rishi Dadhichi because he had on an earlier occasion challenged and beheaded Rishi Dadhichi for teaching the Madhuvidya (the understanding of reinstating life in a dead body) to the Ashwini twins (Gods of sunrise and Sunset, who brought riches to guys and removed obstacles).

The Ashwini twins had saved the Madhuvidya being used by Dadhichi. Indra was unsure if he would be cursed by Rishi Dadhichi and make his life depressed on account of his request. Rishis were proven to possess the capability to curse Gods to plights.

Given his predicament Indra had to visit Rishi Dadhichi and was out of choices. Lord Shiva and Rishi Dadhichi were so evenly in sync with the principles of asceticism the great Rishi consented to give his life up for the greater good.

His bones would be better off rather than being buried somewhere in the floor. Dadhichi used his blessing of invincibility from Lord Shiva to help Indra, despite Indra's former affront, because it was the larger good that has been in danger from the menace of Vritasura.

Such forms of supreme sacrifice could be made only by people who place absolutely no significance in their very own person, considering even their own bodies as a matter that would become subject to rust, therefore not worthy of being relegated to.

The relationship between Lord Shiva and Rishi Dadhichi tests the latter's solve to the fullest and he wins mokshya with his perseverance and dedication to the divine will.

Though there are hymns, prayers, and mantras, recited to perform Maha Shivratri puja, one mantra gains precedence over all others. Exactly it is given below with its meaning.
